I was driving through Dulwich village one evening and noticed a little corner shop lit up in neon lights (it was hard to miss) so I was curious as to what was going on and had to go back to pay it a visit.
The Dulwich outdoor gallery is the hub for a number of artist all displaying work around the local area in conjunction with the Dulwich Picture gallery. The work is done by some of the top street artists around and is all based on a common theme – 17th and 18th century paintings that are in the permanent collection at the Dulwich Picture Gallery.
The base is only a small store front but is bright and colourful with lots to see.
As well as looking at the artwork on show there is a comfy seating area that is perfect for browsing the range of books and magazines they have.
I am not a fan of graffiti that consists of illegible name tags that crop up in any newly painted area but I do like to see nice art work and have found myself paying more attention when I spy brightly coloured masterpieces on my walks.
If you would like to see any of the outdoor gallery there are over 30 pieces of work within the Peckham, Forest hill and Dulwich area. You could pop into the hub in Dulwich village to pick up a leaflet with a map and a list of the artists featured.
Have you been to any interesting art galleries lately?

I can’t remember the last time I went to a gallery. How nice that this is local to you and showcases local artists too? I love the Disco sign!
Thank you for linking up to #KCACOLS and I hope to see you back again on Sunday x

I haven’t been to a gallery since I met my husband, it’s not his thing and now with the girls I don’t seem to find the time. As they get older I want to visit more and help them understand art, or at least try to. This place looks great.

Until I started a photography degree I hardly visited any either, it might be nice to find some that are kid friendly and let’s them get involved 🙂

Looks like a great idea to promote art. In a strange way I like the big yellow face with red lips 🙂 #KCACOLS

This a nice gallery! Wow 30 pieces of work! That is awesome. I have not gone to a Gallery for a while and not for lack of interest but for lack of time. I used to go a lot to Galleries with my mum but now that I’m in the UK not so much. I better try to go again! Thanks so much for sharing this at #KCACOLS. It is lovely to have you, 🙂 x
