Currently reading

I have quite a few books downloaded onto my kindle app but there’s nothing quite like having a real book to hold!

This year I have set a target on goodreads which you can see on the widget to the right. I don’t often give myself a target but I have so many books I want to read and I think having a target will encourage me to read more. In 2014 I did a 50 book challenge and just managed  to finish my 50th book on new years eve so it was pretty tight. I thought I would make it a bit easier on myself this year as I have a lot of university work as well as juggling general life stuff.

I have started ‘After You’  by Jo Jo Moyes which I ordered online after finishing the first book ‘Me before you’ I really enjoyed it and love following characters in book series as I feel like I know them and already have a connection to the book.

I found Abi’s house by Jenny Kane in poundland, I often have a flick through their books when I’m in there and am impressed with the selection for only a pound. I’ve never read anything by Jenny Kane but this seems like a nice easy read about a young woman who has been widowed and decides to follow her dreams of moving to a cottage in Cornwall.

Alice Bliss by Laura Harrington has been sitting on my book shelf for a few years, it was part of a large set of books I bought and didn’t get around to reading. I have seen reviews of this book and it seems quite promising so looking forward to getting stuck in!

I have been searching for some new books to order so would love some recommendations! What are you reading at the moment?

  1. There really isn’t anything like having a new book to get your nose stuck into. I think setting a target is a great idea but I’d never be able to manage 50 in a year. Perhaps 12 would be a good place to start! Happy reading! #GlobalBlogging

    1. Its great when you find a book that you cant put down but then at the same time you don’t want it to end! I haven’t read gone girl but I did watch the movie which I found quite chilling

  2. I love hearing what other people are reading. I must have hundreds on my kindle waiting to be read but you’re right there really is nothing like the feel of a real book. I hardly read any last year but am making a real effort to make more time for reading this year x

  3. 50 Books is loads! Well done! I agree there is something special about a real book but I do find my kindle easier to hold. I have never thought to look in Poundland for books before. I read the Kind Worth Killing last year which I really enjoyed.
Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again next Sunday.

  4. I really miss reading. It feels like all I do is read blogs or children’s books (not that that is a bad thing) 🙂 . Nothing beats curling up with a cup of tea and getting stuck into a book. Hope you get to enjoy all those books and reach your goal! #globalblogging

    1. Luckily my kids are at the age where they read to themselves! I’m sure they’re love of books is influenced by seeing me read as they were growing up and I think it’s important that us parents get our own time to relax and have me time.

  5. I really don’t seem to make time to read these days, which is a real shame because I love it when I do it! The last book I read was ‘the fault in our stars’, which I loved so much I finished it over the course of about 3 evenings. x #KCACOLS

I’m currently reading the game of thrones series and then want to complete the Lord of the rings series too! #KCACOLS

    1. It is hard fitting it all in that’s why I like to add books to my kindle app so I can can get a few pages read on the bus or while waiting for appointments. I tend to save the actual books for in the evening when I have more time to relax. Good luck with the challenge, sounds like you’re making a good start 😀

  7. I like finding out what everyone else is reading. I didn’t make enough time for books last year so I’ve set myself a target to read at least one book per month, which no seems pitiful in comparison to your 50! I’m just about to start mad girl as my February book #KCACOLS

    1. I think it’s a great start to get back into reading and that’s probably about how many I read last year, it’s all about giving yourself time and making it work around your lifestyle. I haven’t read mad girl, will have to look it up! 😊
